Loose Ends, Tasks and Reminders

Miscellaneous

Anytime you move, it is a big deal. It is also time consuming and easy to lose track of some important, day-to-day responsibilities, particularly if you are a 1st time home buyer.

Here’s a few things to consider and potentially take care of:

Change of Address

We have mentioned this elsewhere on the website, but it is worth repeating: You’ll want to remember to change your address with the US Post Office prior to your move. You can do this easily and quickly online – just click here.

Property Taxes

Each county in Alabama is a little different when it comes to who pays property taxes and how. The best option on how to determine your property taxes and how they should be paid is to contact the County Clerk in your home’s jurisdiction.

You can get a head start on this by reviewing the State of Alabama’s position on property taxes and other topics related to manufactured, modular and mobile homes here: http://revenue.alabama.gov/advalorem/rulesandregs/code/mhlaw.PDF

Other Insurances

You should be sure and contact any of your current insurance companies, including household, auto and health. You’ll want to – at a minimum – inform them of your new address. Additionally, you will want to find out what impact, if any, your relocation has on your policies and coverages, particularly if you are moving across state lines.

School Systems

If you have children, you have probably already thought of this, but just in case: The sooner you can register your kid(s) into the nearby school system, the sooner they can establish a regular routine making it easier it will be for them to settle in.

Something Not Quite Right About Your New House?

In the unlikely event you find something not quite right about your new manufactured, modular or mobile home – please let us know immediately. We want to make sure you are 100% happy and that your transition into your new home is as smooth and easy as possible!!

Anthing else? There is nothing else you need to do. With that said, we’d be very grateful if you’d tell your friends.
